In 2008, with the establishment of the Danz’è Oriente Occidente competition, a new section was opened dedicated to the choreography of the latest generations in Italy. In Piazza del Grano in Rovereto, for four afternoons, in front of a panel of experts and a keen and engaged audience, sixteen authors selected from over eighty candidates presented their creations in a true showcase that attested to vitality and good ideas.
The success of the initiative encouraged the Festival to continue down this path with the second edition of the contest. Most importantly, it allowed the winners of Danz’è 2008 to present a new creation this year, co-produced by the Festival and included in the official program of the event.
Thus, in the space of the Fausto Melotti Auditorium, during the evening of the Danz’è 2009 winners' announcement, Teatrofficina Zerogrammi will present Inri, a new work by Stefano Mazzotta and Emanuele Sciannamea.
Having trained in the theater dance courses at the Milanese Paolo Grassi Civic School of Dramatic Art and already experienced collaboration within the Artemis Danza company led by Monica Casadei, the two young artists are now embarking on an autonomous and original creative path, characterized by a strong and sunny visionary approach, imbued with inexhaustible vitality and healthy good humor. In Inri, their focus is on the social and individual relationship with the church and its liturgies: the ritual cadence of the mass is almost a dance to which one adapts with zeal and precision, but also with a hint of exhibitionism, aware that others are watching us and that our actions are constantly scrutinized, more by ordinary mortals than by God Himself…
