I would like to be pop

Davide Valrosso has a background as a performer in prestigious international companies. Since 2014, choreography has captivated him, and his first solo, L’apertura degli occhi, was selected by the Anticorpi XL network. The subsequent work, Cosmopolitan Beauty, produced by Cango and Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, develops a reflection on the meaning of being on stage. Now, with the new piece I would like to be pop, he addresses a question that has long plagued contemporary dance, which is often considered elitist and incomprehensible by most. In this duet, without denunciation but with lightness and irony, he raises the issue of the relationship between author and audience.

CID Cantieri, the project of the International Dance Center of Rovereto aimed at promoting emerging Italian artists by offering them production residencies, financial support, and opportunities for public engagement within the context of Oriente Occidente, presents four promising authors at the 2016 Festival: the Friulian Tommaso Serratore, the Apulian Davide Valrosso, the Sicilian Salvo Lombardo, and the Sardinian Carla Rizzu.
