Candoco Dance Company Lab

 
Led by Candoco Artists, the lab will be a unique opportunity for dancers to come together, take risks, test news ideas and share practice.
The lab is open to disabled and non-disabled dancers (age 18+) at various stages in their professional career and who want to enjoy a creative experience with Candoco Dance Company.

Candoco Dance company is an internationally renowned contemporary dance company of disabled and non-disabled dancers, founded in 1991. Candoco produces excellent and profound experiences for audiences and participants that excite, challenge and broaden perceptions of art and ability, and place people and collaboration at the heart of their work.

Annie Hanauer
Annie joined Candoco in 2008, her first performance with Candoco was at the Beijing Olympics. She worked with Lea Anderson on the solo Miniatures in 2013. She left the company in 2014 but continues to perform in Miniatures and work with Candoco through our Candoco Artist programme.
Annie grew up dancing in Minnesota, and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of Minnesota, before moving to London to join Candoco in 2008. In addition to her work with the company, she has performed in works by Bebe Miller, Pat Graney, Michael Sommers, Morgan Thorson and Karen Sherman, among others, and has dabbled in theatre and performance art. From 2013 onwards Annie has been performing, courtesy of Candoco Dance Company, in Rachid Ouramdane’s company work POLICES!

Susanna Recchia
Susanna initially studied dance at the National Academy of Dance in Rome, and is a Graduate of Laban, where she received the Award of Best Performer in 2004. Following a Foundation Course in Dance Movement Therapy at Goldsmiths University, she obtained an MA in Dance and Somatic Well-being at Lancashire University. She then completed a two-year Yoga Teacher Training Course. She is currently doing a part-time practice-based PhD in Dance looking at the dancer’s practice involved in collaborative and interdisciplinary processes at Roehampton University in collaboration with Siobhan Davies Dance and Independent Dance. An essential element of her ongoing practice is a yearly meeting with American artists Andrea Olsen and Caryn McHose whose work (Body & Earth) is based on the relation between the self and the environment.
Susanna has worked with Candoco in different capacities since 2010: as a company teacher, as a dancer between 2012 and 2014 (performing works by Marc Brew, Trisha Brown, Claire Cunningham, Emanuel Gat, Thomas Hauert, Wendy Houston, Rachid Ouramdane) and as a Candoco Artist since 2014 to co-lead both educational and performative events.

Since the workshops will be started by the CID after reaching a minimum number of participants it is essential that registrations are received as soon as possible.

The registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
